Rustic Honey Crisp Apple Pie For Crust

▪1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

▪1/2 teaspoon salt

▪1/2 teaspoon sugar

▪1 stick unsalted butter (chilled and cut into pieces) For Pie

▪4 Honey Crisp Apples (sliced into thin slices)

▪1 stick butter

▪1/2 cup white sugar

▪1/2 cup brown sugar


-Preheat oven to 350 degrees.


Make pie dough:

-Mix flour, salt and sugar in a bowl. With a pastry blender, cut in butter, until mixture forms little balls. Add 2 tablespoons ice water. Mix until the dough forms. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.Then roll out dough onto a floured surface. Wrap around rolling pin and then gently unwrap over a pie plate. Let the dough round lay in a natural fashion, no fussing with it. We want it to look rustic. Make pie:

-Arrange apples so they fan out in a circular pattern. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add white and brown sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved and butter is melted. Pour over apples. I made some extra dough to create pie crust roses to garnish the pie with.

-Bake for 30-35 minutes, until golden brown and caramelized.
