Streusel Coffee Cake with Browned Butter Icing

Coffee Cake:

1 1/2 cup sugar

1 stick butter, softened

1 1/4 cup milk or half and half

2 eggs

3 cups flour

4 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoons salt

Streusel filling:

1 cup brown sugar

4 tablespoons flour

4 teaspoons cinnamon

1 stick butter, melted

1 cup chopped walnuts

Browned Butter Icing

1 stick (8 tablespoons) butter

3 cups powdered sugar, sifted

2-3 tablespoons whipping cream or milk (add more for desired consistency)

1 tsp vanilla

For the cake, beat butter and sugar together. Add egg, one at a time, and beat well after each addition. Add dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt) alternately with milk and mix well. Set aside. Mix all streusel ingredients together. Pour half of coffeecake batter into a greased bundt pan. Pour streusel over and press into batter. Pour remaining batter into pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 35-45 mins or until toothpick inserted comes out clean. Set aside to cool. For icing, melt butter slowly over the stove. Swirl butter over medium heat for 5-7 mins or until butter has turned a golden brown. Add butter to sifted powdered sugar and add vanilla and milk. Beat well until smooth. Ice cooled cake.
